Are all crowns the same?
No, not all crowns are the same. Crowns can be made of different materials such as porcelain, zirconia, gold, and porcelain fused to metal, just to name a few. The aesthetics and quality of a crown are dependent upon the skill level of the dentist, the type of laboratory used, as well as the materials in which the crown is made from. For example, in our office, crowns on the front teeth are usually made of porcelain to provide a natural look. Porcelain crowns have no metal, so they alleviate that dark line you often see at the gumline. On back teeth, we use zirconia crowns since they are strong yet they are completely tooth colored, making them aesthetically pleasing as well. For more info, contact our Orlando dental office today!
