Professional dental cleanings at our Alafaya, FL dental office are essential if you want to maintain a healthy smile. However, these routine appointments are also an excellent opportunity to check in with your hygienist to see how you’re doing and to ask questions.

Here’s a list of questions you should ask, but you probably have your own as well. Don’t ever hesitate to let us know what’s on your mind - your hygienist is there to help you enjoy the benefits of a healthy smile.

Questions to Ask

  1. Am I brushing properly? If you have committed to practicing proper oral hygiene, be sure you don't waste your efforts. Even though you have brushed your teeth your whole life, your hygienist may still be able to offer you some tips to get the most out of your daily routine.
  2. How should I floss? Most people think they’re flossing properly, but this is another area that deserves your attention. Ask your hygienist to show you how to floss properly, especially around restorations like dental bridges.
  3. Do you see any signs of gum disease? As part of your cleaning, your hygienist will also check your gums to make sure they’re healthy. If there are signs of gum disease, we can get right to work and develop a treatment plan to restore your gums to full health. Learn more about our general dentistry services here.
  4. Are there foods or drinks that I should avoid for a healthy smile? We aren’t saying that you need to cut out foods you enjoy, but being informed about the effects they have on your teeth can help you make better choices.
