Financial Info

It is important to receive dental care in a timely manner. We don't ever want you to have to avoid or postpone a procedure because you worry how you'll manage to fit it into your budget. At Alafaya Center for Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, we offer several options for making your dental care accessible and affordable.

CareCredit & Lending Club Patient Solutions

Our dental office has partnered with CareCredit and The Lending Club Patient Solutions (formerly Springstone), both trusted names in patient financing. Both offer 12-month interest-free payment plans or extended plans with low interest. CareCredit is a revolving account that you can use like a credit card for health services. It is widely accepted in dental offices, doctor’s offices, and veterinary clinics. The Lending Club offers a low-interest loan amount with a set repayment schedule. If you'd like more information about either, please give us a call or check the CareCredit and Lending Club websites.

Insurance

We are not PPO providers for any insurance, but we are happy to file all insurance claims for our patients' convenience. AS long as you have a PPO dental insurance plan, we can file a claim for you. In fact 60% of our patients have PPO insurance and do come here out of network. Our goal is to help maximize your insurance benefits by submitting claim forms along with x-rays, chart notes, and doctor narratives to the insurance provider.

At the time services are rendered, please be prepared to make payment in full. You’ll receive your insurance reimbursement directly from your provider. Please note that we do not accept any HMO or discount plans.

Other Forms of Payment

In addition to the above financial options, we accept cash, personal or bank checks, debit cards, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are numerous qualities that make a “good” dentist. Of course, education, training, and experience are all important factors. But quality dental care is as much about practical knowledge as it is understanding your needs and treating you as the unique individual you are.

It’s important to pay attention to how you feel when you first enter a dental practice. First impressions do matter, and they tell you a lot about how you’ll be treated every time you visit for an appointment.

Were you welcomed promptly and warmly? Did the receptionist take time to ask how you’re doing or did you feel rushed? Were you seen on time? When you were being treated, did the dentist take time with you and answer your questions?

In addition to your impressions, you want to ensure that the facility is safe, clean, and modern and uses updated technology to streamline your treatments.

Dr. Gary Michaelson is a top dentist in Orlando, FL who puts your needs first. Our team loves pampering our patients, and our office is filled with spa-like amenities like aromatherapy candles, herbal eye packs, lumbar pillows, and even a shiatsu neck massager!

If you are looking for a dental practice that offers the perfect balance of state-of-the-art technology and comforting, personalized care, please call Alafaya Center for Cosmetic & Family Dentistry.

Dentist Orlando FLOur fees are competitive for services rendered in a similar private practice. Also, we offer discounts on total treatment plans (see Financial page).

We cannot compete with chain or corporate dental offices. Their standards of quality dentistry and materials are not our standards. We believe our patients are entitled to the best materials and dental labs as well as the confidence of knowing that a professional and knowledgeable team member is seeing to your needs. For more info, contact our Orlando dental office today!

Dental Insurance | Orlando Dentist Most of our patients have dental insurance and we routinely help them maximize their benefits. We accept traditional insurance plans and PPO plans, however, we are out of network.  Patients with traditional insurance or a PPO plan have the freedom to choose their dentist. In most cases, the deductibles and annual maximums are the same if you visit an in-network dentist or an out-of-network dentist. Check out our Financial Page for more information.

It is our priority to help patients receive all of the benefits they are entitled to under their plan.  Immediately following your dental appointment, we will file your claim electronically, providing x-rays, narratives, and photos to support the claim and expedite your payment. At the time of the service, we ask that you pay in full for services rendered. Within a few weeks of your appointment, you will receive a reimbursement check from your insurance company. This is how we work with all insurance companies.

The amount of reimbursement depends on what type of plan you have chosen or which plan your employer has paid for. Keep in mind that dental insurance, in general, is very limiting. Most plans allow a maximum of $1000-$1500 per year and have restrictions on the treatment allowed.  Dental benefits haven't changed much since their inception in the early 1960's while dentistry has made enormous clinical advances in the last 50 years. The amount of dentistry a patient could receive in 1960 with a $1000 annual insurance benefit is far different than today.

Dentistry has a wide range of predictable, long-lasting treatment options to help patients restore and maintain health, function, and beauty. Dental insurance simply does not allow for the quality based comprehensive treatment available today. Since dental coverage is so limited it is important to choose a dentist on trust, experience, skill, and likeability rather than if they are on your "list". If you have any further questions please feel free to call our Orlando, FL office at (407) 381-3000.

At Alafaya Center for Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, we’re pleased to offer our patients third-party financing through CareCredit and the Lending Tree. You will find links to both on our Financial page.

While the option to make monthly payments directly to a dental office has not existed for many years, third-party financing may be an option for you. You can apply alone or with a cosigner, and you’ll receive an immediate answer. If you are approved, we can start your treatment even before you receive your new card. Financing your treatment over time is easy with payment options like 6- and 12-months interest free and extended plans for 24, 36, 48, and 60 months.

Both adhere to the teeth and contribute to gingivitis and gum disease. There is a clear difference between plaque and calculus and how they affect your oral health. Plaque is the soft sticky layer of acid producing bacteria. This forms on the teeth every 24 hours as a result of eating and drinking throughout the day.  It is easily removed with daily brushing and flossing. When plaque is not removed daily with proper oral hygiene it can start to contribute to irritation and inflammation in the gums. The acid in the plaque is also what causes cavities.

When the plaque is left on the teeth for too long the minerals in your saliva begin to harden it to your teeth. When this happens it becomes Calculus or also known as tarter. Calculus unlike plaque us a harden substance that adheres to the teeth. The calculus builds up in layers and thickness over time. Like plaque it harbors toxic bacteria that irritates and causes gum to become inflamed. Over time this causes gum disease and recession of the gum tissue.   Once the calculus is hardened to the teeth, it cannot be removed with just brushing and flossing. It will only come off with a professional dental cleaning. Depending on the amount of buildup, a special gum therapy may be required. If the calculus is allowed to remain on the teeth, over time the irritation and inflammation will lead to gingivitis and eventually gum disease. Gum disease is one of the major causes of tooth lose in adults.
