Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic bonding can be an alternative to porcelain veneers in some cases. We can use bonding material for misshapen, chipped, cracked, discolored, or misaligned teeth.
The tooth is roughened up with a dental drill and the surface is lightly etched. A bonding solution is applied and allowed to dry. Orlando dentist, Dr Michaelson will choose a custom shade of resin (white filling material) to sculpt on your tooth. Once set, the excess is removed, smoothed, and polished to a natural appearance. The bonding procedure is completed in a single office visit and can greatly improve the appearance of a tooth.
However, since the plastic resin used is not as strong as your natural tooth enamel or a porcelain veneer, it is more likely to stain, chip, or break. Bonding typically lasts three to five years before needing repair.
